With the rise of Amazon seller accounts being compromised, it's crucial to enhance your security. Amazon's Two-Step Verification (2SV) adds an extra layer by requiring a one-time password ("OTP") even if your password is exposed. This simple yet robust security measure can be set up in minutes to safeguard your seller dashboard and ensure peace of mind.

What You’ll Need

Prepare one of the following before setup:

• A mobile device that can receive SMS
• A mobile device with internet access to use an authenticator app

Step-by-Step Setup Guide

Step 1: Choose Your 2SV Method

Option A: SMS Verification

• Select Phone number as your verification method
• Enter your mobile number and click Continue
• Amazon sends an OTP via SMS—enter it and proceed

Option B: Authenticator App

• Select Authenticator app method
• A QR code appears on-screen
• On your phone, install a TOTP app (e.g., Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator)
• Scan the QR code
• The app generates a 6-digit OTP—enter it to verify

Both methods are equally secure; choose what’s most convenient.

Step 2: Browser Trust Settings

After validating, you can choose to “trust this browser” so you won’t need to OTP on every login. Feel free to enable or disable this based on personal preference.

Step 3: Finalize Setup

Click Enable Two-Step Verification. You’ll receive a confirmation message—2SV is now activated!

Optionally, add backup methods (another phone or app) to retain account access if you lose your primary device.

Managing or Disabling Two-Step Verification

If you wish to turn off 2SV:

1. Go to Settings → Login & Security → Two-Step Verification
2. Click Disable
3. Confirm the action. If you check “Also clear my 2SV settings,” all linked devices/apps will be removed. We recommend leaving this unchecked if you may re-enable later.
4. 2SV is now disabled, but your setup remains intact for future use.
